What does Veda mean?

Veda means knowledge. The Vedas are a body of knowledge that were written down thousands of years ago containing guidelines for the highest and healthiest practices of living. Ayurvedic principals, the ancient art of medicine and of prolonging life are based on the knowledge contained in the Vedas. At Veda Salon and Spa, we promote these healthy living practices as the best way to achieve beauty for your entire being. We offer only the Aveda products which are derived from pure flower and plant essences and are based on Ayurveda.

Is Veda Salon and Spa and Aveda the same?

We are not Aveda. Veda Salon and Spa is an Aveda concept salon and spa. We use and offer the Aveda products as we believe they are the highest quality of products available and Aveda maintains an environmentally conscious and socially responsible philosophy.

Can I use more than one styling product at a time?

YES, if you would like to. To achieve the exact results that you want, your stylist will recommend the products and instruct you on how to use them.

With this humidity, my hair just seems to be ....flat.....frizzy....OR.....just out of control. What do I do?

The first step is usually a haircut designed for your hair, facial shape and lifestyle. Certain coloring techniques will sometimes add volume to limp hair, or perhaps hair reforming will be what is needed. The Aveda Brilliant and Light Element Styling products help keep frizz to a minimum. Your stylist will also assist you in styling techniques and the appropriate home care products to keep you looking great between salon visits.

Does it help to change shampoos?

Perhaps. It depends on the shampoo and on the conditioner being used. Sometimes you will notice great results with a change of shampoo, and other times the conditioner or styling product needs adjustment. Your stylist will assist you in making a change of product, or change of the method of application.

What should I expect in a massage?

Our licensed, professional massage therapists are here to assist you in relaxation and in addressing muscle tension issues. Your therapist will explain how to prepare for your massage and will be concerned for your comfort level at each moment. Your body will be covered except for the body area that is being massaged. Sometimes guests prefer to keep their undergarments on during the massage. Your individual preferences and needs are carefully taken into consideration so as to maximize your comfort level and benefits from the massage treatment.

How much should I tip?

Most guests will leave a tip for services typically as they would in a restaurant. Generally 10-20% of the total service is appropriate based on how the guest feels about the quality of service. If there is more than one service provider, the total gratuity will be divided per your direction, or our guest services personnel will assist you in dividing it equitably. Tips, while always appreciated, are not required.

How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?

In order to obtain the time and day that works best for you, we recommend scheduling your appointments two to four weeks in advance. If you wish to schedule with our busiest service providers, two months or more may be required. There are also times when you can schedule an appointment for the same or next day due to cancellations. Scheduling in advance guarantees availability with your technician at a date and time that is most convenient for you, but never hesitate to call "at the last minute" as there just might be an opening for the service you are requesting.

I just want a trim, why is it the same price as a hair cut?

What is most important in any hairstyle is the amount of hair remaining on the head after a trim or haircut. Throughout the scalp, hair grows at different rates. The behavior of hair also changes with an individual's state of health, diet, condition of hair, previous chemcial treatments on the hair, and with seasonal changes in the weather. With each haircut, careful consideration is made to all of these factors and what is remaining after the trim or cut is what keeps each hairstyle looking great.
